BACK TO LOFOTEN – A WEEK OF FOOD, CULTURE & COMMUNITY
The first week this November, our Norwegian team returned to Lofoten for inspiring days focused on food, culture, and community. From Leknes to Napp to Kabelvåg, each day brought new conversations and connections around how we can build more, robust, sustainable and inclusive food systems together.
Tuesday – Regional Food Conference, Leknes
We opened the week with the Regional Food Conference, hosted by LoVe Food and partners. The event brought together people from across the food chain — producers, policymakers, innovators, and community representatives — to discuss urgent questions:
- How can local food more effectively reach local people?
- What role does food play in societal preparedness?
- What is needed to ensure that producing food in The Northen part of Norway can provide a sustainable livelihood?
The dialogue was open, honest, and forward-looking — a true meeting for change.
Wednesday – Hybrid Forum, Napp
Midweek we moved to Napp for the Hybrid Forum, designed as a village gathering. In small group conversations that grew into a larger community dialogue, we explored the intersections of tourism, food heritage, cultural values, and contemporary challenges. The forum became a space to reflect, to listen, and to imagine new pathways toward meaningful change — for tourism, food systems, for communities, and for the future.
Thursday – Surplus Table, Kabelvåg
We closed the week in Kabelvåg by setting up a Surplus table, inviting locals to share and exchange food. What started as a simple act became a powerful symbol of community sharing — reducing waste while building new connections.
Thank you, Lofoten
To everyone who joined, contributed, and shared their perspectives on our Convivial Magical Mystery Tour — tusen takk! The week reminded us how much can happen when people come together across sectors and experiences with curiosity, openness, and care.
