INTERCROPPING IN THEORY AND PRACTICE. WORKSHOPS

On October 18th we participated in a multi-event at HUBA art space in Gdansk, where members of Intercropping Revisited presented an overview of concepts (both applied and theoretical) of Intercropping, which was followed by a seed-sharing activity based on the concepts of assemblages and companion species. Raúl Matta (Institut Lyfe) introduced a history and interpretation of monoculture, to frame our discussion, Jenny Herman (Panthéon-Sorbonne) discussed basics of intercropping, polyculture, and agroforestry, as well as led the seed-exchange workshop, and Fernando Garcia-Dory (Inland) discussed how humanities and the arts can help address issues like monoculture and activate Intercropping and multispecies thinking for community impact. We had a great time discussing, sharing, and making our seed packets, which combine plants which share mutual benefits to each other and also generate health benefits for both the soil, and the consumer (us!).
