João Pedro Gomes

Author of “Doçaria Portuguesa. Das origens ao século XVIII” (2024). Holds a PhD (2022) in “Food Heritage: Cultures and Identities” at University of Coimbra, a Bachelor Degree in Archeology (2008) and a Master Degree in Art History, both from the University of Coimbra (2012). Invited Adjunct Professor at Polytechnics Institute of Coimbra, teaching in the Bachelor in Gastronomy and trainer at School of Hospitality and Tourism of Coimbra. Researcher at CiTUR – Center for Tourism Research, Development and Innovation (Coimbra) and at the Center Center for Classical and Humanistic Studies at the University of Coimbra (CECH-UC) associated with the research project “DIAITA: Lusophony Food Heritage”. He develops his research in the areas of Portuguese sweets history and culinary gastronomic literature in Portuguese Medieval and Modern Age, establishing bridges between historical knowledge about food and food behaviours and the development of gastronomic touristic products and valorisation of endogenous food heritage and territories.
