Nelson Henrique da Silva Ferreira is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Coimbra with expertise in classical studies, linguistics, and ancient history. He holds dual PhDs from the University of Barcelona and the University of Coimbra. His research focuses on Open Science Infrastructures, ancient medicine, and the impact of agricultural practices in Sumerian and Roman cultures, as well as on practical methods for transferring academic knowledge to society.

For the past 16 years, Nelson has collaborated as a researcher, educator, and science manager on various national and international initiatives, including projects as TRIPLE, OPERAS Plus, PALOMERA, ATRIUM and LUMEN. He has taught ancient languages, digital humanities, Ancient History and Research methods and management at several institutions. His work in open access publishing reflects a balanced approach to integrating traditional scholarship with modern digital research practices.
