Paula Barata Dias
Assistant professor of Classical Studies at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra. Integrated researcher at the Centre for Classical and Humanistic Studies of the University of Coimbra. And collaborating researcher at the Centre of Classical Studies of the University of Lisbon. PhD in Medieval Latin Literature, in 2005, with a dissertation entitled “Os textos monásticos de ambiente Frutuosiano: com edição crítica, tradução em português e comentário em notas da regra de S. Frutuoso (Noroeste hispânico, séc. VII)”, which won her, in 2007, the first prize Armando Almeida Fernandes in Portuguese Medieval History, awarded by the Mariana Seixas Foundation. Currently editor of the Boletim de Estudos Clássicos (https://impactum-journals.uc.pt/bec). Teaching activity in the areas of Greek II, Greek and Roman Mythology, Origins of the Western Thought, and seminars within master’s and PhD courses related to Latin literature of late antiquity and high Middle Ages; Authors of Latin and Greek Patristics; Religion Studies. Research focused mainly on the history and culture of late antiquity and high Middle Ages, Visigothic Hispania and pre-Benedictine monasticism. She collaborates in teaching and research on the master’s degree programmes in Food Cultures and the PhD in Food Heritage. Her interests focus on the symbolism, religiosity and ethics of food cultures.
