Maira Loureiro Polatto
PhD candidate in Food Heritage: Cultures and Identities at the University of Coimbra. Holds a Master’s degree in Food: Sources, Culture, and Society from the same university. Earned a Bachelor's degree in Gastronomy from Estácio de Florianópolis (Brazil), officially recognized as a Licentiate degree in Portugal. Also holds a postgraduate specialization in Higher Education Teaching in Gastronomy and a
technical degree in Bakery and Pastry from the Federal Institute of Santa Catarina (IFSC). She began her academic research in 2018 and works at the intersection of gastronomy, culture, and society, with research interests in food heritage, food identities, food literacy, citizen science, and social impact. She was a recipient of a Scientific Initiation Scholarship (PIBIC-IES) from 2018 to 2020. In 2022 and 2023, she was a collaborating researcher at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. Currently, she is a collaborating researcher at the Centre for Classical and Humanistic Studies of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Coimbra.
