CONVIVIUM NORWAY GATHERING IN LOFOTEN
A fieldwork in New European Bauhaus ‘spirit

Several fields, disciplines and perspectives came TOGETHER when a team of 10 met in Lofoten in May. Some even came before the Weekend, to bring together friends, food, ideas, oral history, photos and material for a book and an exhibition on living heritage and food. Most of the group arrived in Lofoten on Monday, immediately struck by the BEAUTIFUL scenery as well as future opportunities. They all gathered for a nice meal in Svolvær in the evening, as they planned for the rest of the Week, making sure the program was, by all means, SUSTAINABLE.
The whole region of Lofoten, being a major destination for tourism, needs a high conscience of how to rethink, to rewrite and thereby remake and maintain – its food heritage. How can tradition and new ways of living coexist to ensure the future of all creatures, all life, in this particular and special district of Northern Norway? This was among the many questions we asked ourselves during the weeklong fieldwork.
