THE ROUTLEDGE HANDBOOK OF FOOD AND CULTURAL HERITAGE
The road was long and sinuous, but the result totally worth it, I think (and I hope you too)! Very happy to (finally!) have in my hands The Routledge Handbook of Food and Cultural Heritage, which I have edited with Michael Di Giovine (West Chester U.). This volume pushes beyond traditional boundaries to present unique perspectives on the myriad ways in which food and cultural heritage are entangled in theory and practice. The collection both stems from and sustains the shared reflections on cultural heritage at the core of CONVIVIUM (WP2). By examining intersections of food and heritage across the world, the volume shows that heritage, tradition, and innovation are not single, closed events, but the ongoing result of circulations of knowledge, movement, assemblages, tinkering, negotiations, consensus, and frictions. Furthermore, it shows that food as heritage can – and should be attuned – to the circumstances we live in.
