CONVIVIAL TABLE IN RURAL NORMANDY

October 24th and 25th, beekeepers, farmers, teachers, educators, activists, and researchers joined a Convivial Table in rural Normandy to discuss and interrogate our past and current foodscapes and imagine those of the future. Our host was Melissa, a bee, who was assisted by Artemis and Demeter, goddesses of wilderness and agriculture, respectively. Through acts of impersonation, performances, and creative participatory interventions, they guided our exploration of the evolution of foodscapes from the dawn of time until present, while giving insights into how these coevolve with human practices, technologies, plants, animals, and other organisms and entities.

Many thanks to Audrey Raulin and the team of Association Pistil (pistilasso.fr) for inviting me to collaborate in the preparation of the event, for the long hours spent on video calls sharing ideas, reflections, doubts and uncertainties, and for setting up the right environment for this exercise of more-than-human conviviality, which needs to be replicated and reach new and broader audiences.
