Josefina Salvado

Brief Curriculum Vitae of Josefina Salvado (Integrated Researcher at CECH – the Centre for Classical and Humanistic Studies at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of Coimbra Josefina Salvado is an economist and researcher affiliated with CECH – the Centre for Classical and Humanistic Studies at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, University of Coimbra, as part of the DIAITA Project. She holds a PhD in Tourism, a Post-Doctorate in Wine Tourism, and a Master’s degree in Tourism and Territorial Development (University of Aveiro), as well as an MBA in Marketing and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting Auditing. She is currently awaiting the defence of her PhD thesis in Food Heritage, Cultures, and Identities (University of Coimbra – Faculty of Arts and Humanities) with the theme “Wine Tourism and Food Heritage in the Alto Douro Wine Region”.
As a researcher, she has been part of various internationally relevant projects. She is currently a member of the CONVIVIUM team: New European Bauhaus Solutions in Food, Living Heritage, and Conviviality, a European project focused on food heritage that brings together seven countries and is led by the University of Coimbra. • PCI-CentroPT – A project on intangible cultural heritage in the Central Region of

Her participation in these projects has strengthened her expertise in food heritage research, wine tourism, and sustainable and regenerative tourism. Josefina has extensive experience as a higher education lecturer, having taught at institutions such as the University of Coimbra, ESHT-IPP Polytechnic Institute of Porto, ISCET – Higher Institute of Business and Tourism Sciences, Portucalense University, Lusófona University, and the Coimbra School of Hospitality and Tourism. Her teaching focuses on subjects such as Tourism
Economics, Gastronomic Tourism, Food Heritage, Data Analysis in Tourism, Wine Tourism, Marketing, and Travel Agency Management.
She has also been involved as a trainer in various educational and capacity-building projects at both national and international levels. Examples include:
• The Postgraduate Program in Food Heritage and Territorial Development, promoted by the University of Coimbra.
• The Living the Future Academy – Alcobaça – Impulso Adultos Program (PRR funding).
• The capacity-building project “The Tourist Experience and the Co-Creation of Value in Wine Tourism”, promoted by the Federal University of Pernambuco (Call for Proposals DRI-GR-PROPG-PROGRAD-PROPESQI-PROExC No. 09/2022), under the coordination and visionary leadership of Professors Dr. Luís Henrique de Souza and Dr. Simone Lira de Almeida, ensuring that capacity-building was not merely a technical process but a true catalyst for innovation and transformation in the region’s wine tourism sector. She has published numerous scientific articles in indexed journals and book chapters, exploring topics such as Food Heritage, Wine Tourism and Coopetition, Olive Tourism, Business Models in Tourism, Gastronomic Tourism, Creative Tourism and Territorial Development, Storytelling, Gastronomy and Cultural Identity, and Tourism Distribution. Additionally, she coordinates and participates in scientific events, editorial committees, and PhD juries. She has experience in consultancy, adult training, organizing conferences and seminars, and developing educational and business projects in the tourism sector.
She actively participates in international tourism conferences, enjoying engagement with local traditions and cultures. During her frequent trips to Brazil, each event not only provides a space for knowledge exchange and academic dialogue but also offers a unique opportunity to establish genuine connections with experts, researchers, passionate professionals in the field, and local
communities.
