CONVIVIUM NORWAY GATHERING IN LOFOTEN III
A fieldwork in New European Bauhaus ‘spirit
Wednesday 21st
After breakfast we bid “Goodbye” to one of our team members, only to greet a new one later, on the same day. Lead by our local CONVIVIUM members, we left Nyvågar, passed the BEAUTIFUL – but also dangerous to humans – mountain “Vågakallen” (Vágigállis in the Northern Lappish language), 943 meters above Sea level, and then set out to see several different community houses in the region. We drove in two cars and then came TOGETHER outside each of the houses which had been picked as representative examples: UL Dønningen, Limstrand and Torvhalsdalen. In the fourth place, Sennesvik, we met Vigdis Unnstad, a member of the board of the “grendehus”, previously a school building, who held a nice presentation of the history of the building, followed by a guidet tour from cellar to loft. Some of the rooms contained very interesting artefacts, others were empty, but history was most present, – as were hopes and possibilities for the future. Our host left us with the keys to the community house, and we all gathered around a table for a meal, and then to talk about our experiences so far and our continuous plans. Later that day we reached our new accomodation in the small village Ure.
To maintain SUSTAINABILITY within the group, our activities during the evening varied from socializing, good food and drinks to sole walks in the mighty mountains and valleys that surrounded us. It is easy to make the trolls of the Norwegian fairytales come true in the scenery that surrounded us this night.
