CONVIVIUM NORWAY GATHERING IN LOFOTEN IV
A fieldwork in New European Bauhaus ‘spirit
Thursday 22nd
We left Ure after a nice breakfast with homemade bread, salmon from the fish farm right outside our accommodation, eggs etc. prepared for us by a Swedish chef who had just arrived. One of the owners of the Lodge told us a little about the plans they have for the place, and how the work with upgrading – to high end tourism – is proceeding.
On our way to the community house at Napp we stopped by the small-scale business Lofoten Seaweed, run by local women, who harvest from the sea. All group members lined up by the counter before leaving, meaning that when we left both the owner Angelita Eriksen at the counter and each of her customer that morning had been enriched in some SUSTAINABLE way.
At Napp we gathered around a table, as usual. Two dear members of our group were present by screen: Virginie Amilien started with a nice presentation on Hybrid Forum. We continued our talk about our experiences so far, and we discussed the format and purpose of the Hybrid Forum. *
We were all struck by the skills of professional storyteller Mimesis Heidi Dahlsveen, summarizing our work in a story, – built on our words, expressions, structures and actions, added science as well as wisdom from generations of storytellers before us… Because food is actions and ways of being, ways of understanding time, landscape and space, ways of being TOGETHER.
Since our motto for this whole Fieldwork was like: “The road will become visible as we walk it”, we embraced the opportunity to visit the Borg Viking Museum the same evening. We were offered a nice meal, inspired by the Vikings who once upon the time habited this land, and entertained by the museum staff, performing a play, several songs and a dance from our past. We were even invited to sing and dance along, and so we did – into the BEAUTIFUL summer light of Northern Norway!
