Regina Bendix is currently Professor (C4) for Cultural Anthropology/European Ethnology at the University of Göttingen, Germany. She received her Ph.D. in Folklore in 1987 from Indiana University, Bloomington. Her In Search of Authenticity: The Formation of Folklore Studies (1997) is now a classic, and her scholarly production includes books, edited volumes and articles, many of them discussing topics related to heritage making, cultural property and tourism.
